You may call our office at (813) 873-1936 and request an evaluation.  You will need a referral or prescription from your primary care physician. If you are unsure about whether your child should be evaluated, a therapists may conduct a free screening via Telemedicine or by phone. 

You may call our office at (813) 873-1936 to do an intake.  You will need to fax your current evaluation to (813) 873-8837, along with a copy of your referral/prescription and a written statement that you are requesting a transfer of clinics.  If your evaluation is less than 6 months old, we will write a Plan of Care and send to your physician for signature.  At that point we will submit for authorization from your insurance company and place your child on the schedule.  

When you arrive, please call (813) 873-1936 to alert us that you are here.   Please remain in your car and someone will be out to meet you. You will need to return the intake paperwork, along with your referral/prescription, prior to your appointment date if you were unable to fax it to us. You can fill out the paperwork online or fax it to us at (813) 873-8837. We do not accept email documents due to protecting your privacy.  Please provide any additional information, such as school or medical reports.

** You will need to accompany your child into the session. TKP does not utilize our waiting room due to COVID precautions. If you have other young children, it may be helpful to have someone who can watch them while you come into session. This will allow us to reduce distractions during the evaluation. 

The evaluating speech-language pathologist will provide verbal recommendations and may provide written information, such as resources, the day of your visit. The speech-language pathologist will provide a comprehensive written report within two weeks.

The length of therapy a child receives is hard to predict. Children may show immediate improvement and only require short term therapy. Other children may make gradual progress and need long term therapy. The rate and pattern of improvement is different for every child. Your child will be re-evaluated every 6 months to determine the need for ongoing therapy and the frequency/duration of that therapy. 

Frequency and duration of therapy visits depend upon several variables.  This is determined after the evaluation is performed and based on scores, level of delay, available funding, etc…  Depending on these factors, a child may attend anywhere from one to three times per week for 30 to 60 minutes each time.  

It is important for parents to participate in their child’s therapy for success over time. Parent participation may include: in-room therapy participation, out of room observation (through technology), and completion of home activities. Due to COVID, we do not allow siblings to attend the sessions.

Cancellation policy:  Please call at least 24 hours in advance if you are canceling an appointment.  We ask that you reschedule appointment if possible, as funding agencies usually monitor this and may adjust authorization of services based on attendance. There is a charge of 25.00 per session if you do not call or show for your appointment. If your child does not call or show for appointment 3 times within a one month period, they will be removed from schedule and placed on our waiting list. 

The short answer is absolutely! However, please be aware that some insurance panels limit the number of providers. We do work with families who have PPO or choice plans.
